Leads to Growth at Crossview Church

In the quiet corners of a living room two decades ago, a handful of people opened their Bibles with no grand strategy, just a simple hunger to know God. No one could have predicted that those ordinary evenings would one day reach behind prison bars, into retirement communities, and across county lines to revive a church that had gone silent.

That living-room Bible study has grown into Crossview Community, a vibrant congregation in Kennewick, Washington, led by Pastor Josh Pasma. Their desire remains refreshingly straightforward: enjoy God and make Him known. For Crossview, making Him known has never meant waiting for people to walk through the doors. It has meant carrying the church into places where hope can feel farthest away.

“It’s been awesome to see fans of Jesus actually turn into followers that are bringing church to hard-to-reach places like the jail, the prison, and a retirement community,” Pasma said.

That same outward-facing heart is now opening a new chapter. Through relationships formed within the Northwest Baptist Convention, Crossview has been given a church building in Warden, Washington, and the chance to help replant a Gospel presence there. The connection began at a Shepherd-to-Shepherd meeting, where NWBC Catalysts link pastors and churches for mutual encouragement and cooperation. One of those conversations paired a church that had a building with another ready to step into a fresh ministry opportunity.

For Crossview, the Warden replant is not about adding real estate. It is another expression of a vision the church has carried for years: “Our vision is to be in the city for the city to see heaven more crowded,” Pasma said. That vision already shows itself in jails, prisons, and among seniors. Instead of inviting people to come to them, Crossview keeps finding ways to take the hope of Jesus to those who might never step inside a church building.

The opportunity also reveals the quiet power of cooperation over isolation. Through the Northwest Baptist Convention, churches share resources, strengthen one another, and reach communities that would be difficult for any single congregation to serve alone. What started as neighbors studying Scripture in a living room continues to multiply—not merely by gathering more people in one place, but by sending followers of Jesus into new places and equipping others to do the same.

Twenty years later, the seed planted in that living room is still bearing fruit in unexpected soil. And Pastor Pasma still watches with the same sense of wonder.

“It’s been awesome to have front row seats to see the walking dead start walking in Christ.”
